25+ Years of Advocacy

A community-rooted mission supporting children across Central Georgia

Central Georgia CASA began in 1997 as an outreach of the Family Counseling Center of Central Georgia, which has served the community since 1957. Recognizing the growing need for trained advocates in the child welfare system, the agency partnered with the Bibb County Juvenile Court and the Department of Family and Children Services to establish the CASA program. That same year, the first class of volunteers was sworn in before Judge Thomas Matthews.

In 1999, with support from a National CASA grant, the program expanded to serve Peach and Crawford Counties—ensuring children across the entire Macon Judicial Circuit had access to a dedicated CASA advocate.

By 2000, Central Georgia CASA had grown enough to operate independently. The organization received its 501(c)(3) nonprofit status and formed its own board of directors.

Today, Central Georgia CASA is sustained through grants from National CASA, Georgia CASA, VOCA (Victims of Crime Act), and PSSF (Promoting Safe and Stable Families), along with generous support from local foundations such as the Peyton Anderson Foundation and the Community Foundation of Central Georgia. Community donations and volunteer involvement also play a vital role in making our advocacy possible.

“From a small outreach to a community-wide mission, every step of our story has been guided by one belief: every child deserves someone who will stand by their side.”
